Hanoi Vietnam

Overall trip was wonderful.  You planned a great itinerary.  Accommodations we fine.  The best of the group where the Park Hyatt in Saigon, Metropole in Hanoi and Victory in Hoi An.  Junk in Ha Long Bay was lovely but food was average.

Halong Bay Vietnam

Food was best at Park Hyatt, Metropole Hoi An.  We at a restaurant named Tam Tam in Hoi An that had an incredible fish dish.   We went back and had it again the following day.  The other Victory hotels were not as good at any level.   La Residence Resort in Hue was nice but food was only ok compared with Hyatt Metropole and Victory in Hoi An.  Silk Path Hotel in Hanoi had the most comfortable bed of any.  What a nice place.  Great location, better than Metropole if you want to walk shops.  Everyone was flexible which was great as we altered some of the itinerary…no problem.

Park Hyatt Hotel

Felt very safe in Vietnam yet there was no police or military presence.  Also noticed everyone was thin due to low income.  The issue of Vietnamese being thin was my own observation, especially living in the United State where many are overweight if not obese and in Japan where it appears they are following the trend of the United States, eating too much.

Victory in Hoi An

The Vietnamese people are beautiful both physically and in spirit.  We really enjoyed our time there. Hand crafts and textile work was top notch.  Also bought some nice art which is being shipped back.  My must significant comment is that only two of the guides spoke adequate English to easily understand them.  The other were a bit of a chore if not downright difficult.  I had to explain things to my wife and Spanish is here first language but she is fluent in English.

Sapa Vietnam

I really can’t complain and would recommend the trip to anyone who has the tenacity to stick with so much travel.  The trip was logistically complex.  We had 11 flights, 3 train rides two of which were overnight and one bus ride in addition to daily car tours including the 3 days in Japan.  None were late or delayed!  3 days in Tokyo was awesome and a nice luxurious way to decompress from Vietnam.  I hope this helps.
